Welcome to Club English!
The Forums of Summit Language Institute

This community is open to anyone interested in learning English as a Second / Foreign Language. Our goal is to provide a helpful, informative, and enjoyable environment for ESL/EFL learners to ask questions and practice their English.

Getting the Most out of the Forums @ Club English
  • Club English is organized into several categories: Welcome to Club English, Study Corner, American Culture, and Club English Lounge. Each of these categories has several forums: for example, the category “Study Corner” has the forums Grammar, TOEFL/TOEIC, Idioms, Proverbs, and Phrasal Verbs, and Listening, Speaking, and Pronunciation. To ask a question or have a discussion, go to the forum home page to see a listing of all the categories and their respective forums. Select the forum that is appropriate for your question or discussion topic, and click on “New Thread.”
  • Any time you want to go back to the forum home page, click on the green Club English logo at the top of any forum page.
  • Guests can view the forums, but if you want to post, you have to register and log in. Only two things are required: 1) a valid email address, and 2) consent to our forum rules.
  • The forums are searchable. You can look to see if anyone has already asked your question, and read that thread, if any exist.
  • The forums and threads are subscribable. If you want, you can receive email notification whenever there is new forum/thread activity on a particular topic.
  • If you find someone’s comments helpful, rate them up! Let them know you appreciate their contribution to Club English.
  • For basic instructions on posting and user maintenance, please see the help documents.

Welcome to Summit Language Institute’s ESL forums! Here are a few rules to help make these forums a comfortable place for people to discuss about ESL and learning English.

  1. Treat others with respect. Do not insult, harass, or threaten others. This includes abuse of email and/or private messages (PM).
  2. Do not use profanity or other offensive language. Do not post anything that would embarrass your mother or grandmother.
  3. Please do not spam. Do not write off-topic posts, and do not post more than one time in a row before getting a reply – if necessary, you can edit your post instead.
  4. Do not cross-post under multiple topics.
  5. A forum is not a chat. If you want to talk with one person, you can send him a private message (PM).
  6. A forum is a community. Users who join for the sole purpose of self-promotion or advertising job openings, etc. will lose posting privileges.
  7. Do not post copyrighted materials, including pictures and music. Brief selections are allowed for educational purposes, but not complete articles. If you want to refer to an article, quote a brief selection and add a link. Name your sources, and give the URL if applicable. Posts that violate copyright will be removed without notice.
  8. Do not post links to illegal sites or illegal materials.
  9. Do not “hotlink” pictures.
  10. Do not advertise your own sites in the forums. You can put the address of your website in your profile and/or signature, but do not post solely as a means to advertise yourself.
